Seasonings Manufacturer in Safe Hands thanks to Business Growth Programme

Small business success story Gold Dust Seasoning Ltd has been receiving help and support from the Knowsley Growth Hub since 2015.

From its humble beginnings at the home of Company Director Kish Vadgama, who initially experimented with ingredients to make home seasonings for family and friends, Gold Dust Seasoning has grown into a successful manufacturer of salt and pepper seasoning with business premises on the Knowsley Business Park.

With a drive to ensure the business reached its full potential, Kish and fellow Director John Tierney are always keen to access the business support available to them, and in 2015 the company applied for a Knowsley Business Grant for the purchase of machinery which helped the company to secure larger orders as well as creating new jobs. The company then went on to use the Council’s Knowsley Works Team for its recruitment requirements.

When the company then heard about the Business Growth Programme, specifically the free one to one specialist consultancy support, they were keen to find out more. John said “The Knowsley Growth Hub are always very approachable and they make the process of accessing their support very simple that is why we continue to access their services for the benefit of our business”.

Gold Dust Seasoning were determined to ensure they were a responsible employer, adhering to its Health & Safety responsibilities and after an initial meeting with a Business Advisor from the Knowsley Growth Hub, the company signed up for the free one to one Health & Safety support available through the Business Growth Programme . Soon after a specialist consultant, Dave Gilbert from QSBC was instructed to work with the company.

This support enabled Gold Dust Seasoning to have a Health and Safety Policy constructed specifically for them, ensuring policies and procedures were put in place for the company ranging from corporate and social responsibility through to the reporting of accidents.

Kish said “The Health and Safety documentation has now been completed. We have been provided with everything we need and it has been so helpful. I don’t mind admitting we really didn’t know where to start but now we are totally up to speed with our Health & Safety requirements and in fact chose to carry on working with David from QSBC because the initial support was so good. This ever evolving company has also established a new trading arm after identifying a need to review how best to dispose of their own access packaging, Gold Dust Seasoning now offers a commercial recycling operation, this not only allows them to process their own waste on site but also to provide this service to other businesses on the Business Park.
