Free cycle training, bike maintenance and rides
Thanks to the Local Sustainable Transport Fund, Bike Right are
offering free cycle training and bike maintenance to anyone who
lives, works or studies on Merseyside.
Businesses interested in promoting sustainable travel to their
employees can get in touch to arrange small-group courses, at a
time and venue convenient for you. Visit www.bikeright.co.uk and
look for 'Freewheeling'- or call 0161 230 7007. (One to one
sessions are also available for children.)
Free, organised bike rides are also available with the Pedal
Away project. The project is based in Halewood Country Park
but rides take place across the Borough of Knowsley throughout the
year, Pedal Away caters for cyclists of all ages, including
beginners.
There's also a range of specially adapted cycles, ensuring that
rides are accessible to all. Visit the Cycling Projects
website www.cycling.org.uk/pa or
call Kevin McCann on 0151 443 2148/07971476520 for more
information.
If you'd like advice on other ways of encouraging sustainable
travel, such as setting up a 'Cycle to Work' tax-free bike purchase
scheme, contact Patience Jones, Travel Plan Co-ordinator for
Knowsley Council and Knowsley PCT on 0151 443 3906, patience.jones@knowsley.gov.uk
