Through the Chamber's our current business
services we are ideally placed to deliver practical guidance
and assistance.
We will:
- Develop an independent business-led and commercially focused
network between the private sector and social enterprise and to
encourage participation;
- Facilitate introductions and access to contacts, expertise and
new business opportunities;
- Enable social enterprises to "help themselves"
through our transformative workshops, seminars, events, and
mentoring programmes;
- Provide a platform for the sharing of knowledge, ideas, best
practice, and opportunities for mutual business development;
- Assist social enterprises in moving away from reliance or over
dependence on grant funding to being able to contract for services,
raise debt finance, and / or develop direct or an indirect sales
income;
- Work collaboratively with our strategic partners to encourage
business growth, create more sustainable jobs, and increase
enterprise in the borough;

August 2011
Social Enterprise UK have published a report which has presented
the findings of the State of Social Enterprise Survey 2011 - the
largest survey specifically of social enterprises in the UK.
It has aimed to: explore the landscape of social enterprise;
understand the scope and scale of the sector within the UK economy;
examine in greater depth how social enterprises seek to address
their social or environmental purposes; evaluate how well they are
doing as enterprises; explore their role in public sector service
delivery and identify those factors that help or hinder them.
