COMMERCIAL:COVID-19 – Latest Merseyrail Travel Information

As schools prepare to reopen fully in September and many employees begin to return to their places of work, we are issuing advice and information to ensure safe travelling on the network.

It would be hugely appreciated if you could share this information with your colleagues, especially if they are now beginning to return to work or have children using public transport to return to school.

Passenger advice

As more people begin to return to public transport, we have put extra measures in place to keep both our passengers and staff safe and ensure that we can provide a reliable service.

Social distancing may not be possible at all times when travelling on the Merseyrail network, so we ask that all passengers follow the advice below:

  • Always wear a face covering on trains and in stations unless under 11 or exempt. £100 fine applies
  • Use contactless payments where possible
  • Wash or sanitise hands as soon as possible before and after travel
  • Maintain social distancing where possible
  • Follow advice from staff and be considerate to other passengers
  • Do not use public transport if you, or a member of your household, has COVID-19 symptoms
  • Travel outside busier times if possible. Typically, weekdays between 07:00-09:30 and 16:00-18:30
  • Allow more time for your journey. If stations are busy you may have to queue and may not make your intended train

Timetable changes

If you are planning to travel on the Merseyrail network, please note that timetable changes will be made on 7th September to reintroduce services on our network, with the Ormskirk and Kirkby lines increasing from a 30-minute service to a 15-minute service Monday to Saturday until approximately 19:30 when it will return to every 30 minutes.

Sunday services on all lines will also be subject to change, with the majority of lines seeing an increase in frequency.
