Ancorra Environmental are proud to be based in Knowsley. One of the main Company objectives is to give a positive contribution to the area and its community. It is with this in mind that Steve Davies, Commercial Director, along with his fellow Director, Jennie Riding, have challenged themselves to run the London Marathon, whilst raising money to help raise awareness and prevent knife crime.
Steve has said, ‘there has been an alarming increase in serious crime, especially knife crime, particularly involving young people, which can have life altering consequences for all concerned. When I am on my training runs I am immensely proud of my city but I also feel compelled to contribute and help address its current issues, whilst at the same time challenging myself for improvement too.’
Steve originally took up running to counter balance his sedentary work life which is mainly desk based or sitting in the car travelling around the country to visit clients. He now takes his trainers away on all business trips and has encouraged his colleagues to follow in his example. Ancorra Environmental provide subsidised gym memberships for all employees and have received a Working Well grant from Knowsley Chamber to implement other healthy initiatives in the workplace. With an enthusiastic take up across the team the Company has now sponsored them to participate in the gruelling obstacle race Tough Mudder in September to test their new found fitness abilities.
