Butterworth Barlow upgrades office space following company growth

Butterworth Barlow has unveiled its new fully refurbished office premises following a £300,000 investment in Prescot. The Merseyside chartered accountants and Knowsley Chamber Member, moved into the former Police Sergeant’s House on Derby Street having recently completed an ambitious renovation project that has transformed the 100-year-old building into one of the area’s most desirable office locations.

The 3,400 sq. ft space spans two floors and was designed with company growth in mind, with the firm hoping to expand its team by 20% in 2020.

Partner at Butterworth Barlow Gavin Butterworth said: “Since we established Butterworth Barlow in 2009, we have gone from strength to strength and we are now in a position where we need to start looking ahead and taking our future ambitions into consideration, starting with our office space. With a team of nine, we outgrew our former premises and it was important for us to choose a location that enabled us to comfortably add to our team as time goes on. In the last year alone, the firm has experienced growth of 12% and we have no plans to slow down with aims to recruit across a number of positions in the near future. The addition of a number of staff in a variety of roles will provide support for increasing volumes of work and enquiries.

“We first saw the premises in April 2018 and immediately saw the potential that this historic building had as an office space. We worked with local suppliers including Walton Flooring Centre, Future Bathrooms, Les Brown Builders and Peter Duncan Decorators to create an environment that was modern, professional and welcoming – a true reflection of our brand. Our aim was to create a workspace that was flexible and that would really allow our team to work productively with the ability to collaborate and see clients on site.”

As part of the renovation, Butterworth Barlow has created a hub for local businesses on the top floor of its building and currently houses tenants working across a range of sectors.

Gavin added: “As part of our decision to invest into this build, we took into account Prescot as a thriving business and cultural community and saw an opportunity to support this by including additional office space for neighbouring companies. Our entire top floor is dedicated to other businesses and in total we have four offices of varying sizes available to rent with a number of these already occupied.

“Prescot is thriving at the moment and we’ve been a part of its community since the firm began so it was always important to us to remain in the area and support its continuing development.”
