We all can play a part to address modern slavery in the Liverpool City Region

The business community across Liverpool City Region is being invited to take part in a strategic research project between the Combined Authority and the University of Liverpool on the topic of modern slavery.

Preventing modern slavery is everyone’s business, and regardless of who you are, everyone can play a pivotal part in tackling this issue. This research will focus on the issue in supply chains, and the purchasing of goods and services, and is part of a wider programme of work to support businesses in the region and lead the way in good work. For some this is a new challenge, whilst others are further in their journey, and this project is an opportunity to share knowledge and address the unknowns in current legislation and policy.

Participating businesses will gain an increased awareness of relevant legislation, regional and national 9policy, and sources of best practice guidance. They will also be making a contribution to this high profile regional initiative.

Researchers are looking to speak with supply chain, procurement and contract management professionals across all sectors. They are happy to conduct interviews or focus groups at a location convenient to participants and are aiming to hold sessions in each of the six local authority areas.

Those wishing to take part in this meaningful work are asked to contact the lead researcher Olly Kennedy o.w.l.kennedy@liverpool.ac.uk or Olly Martins olly.martins@liverpoolcityregion-ca.gov.uk
