Community Safe Strengthen Tender Submissions Thanks to Knowsley Growth Hub

Community Safe provides architectural and construction solutions to make places, properties and people more secure. Using intelligence gathered from offender behaviour, the company installs security solutions to obstruct potential perpetrators.

Based from its office in Whiston, Community Safe counts social housing providers Liverpool Mutual Homes and Cheshire West as some of its customers. Wishing to expand the business and customer base still further, Alan Ferreira, a company director, contacted the Knowsley Growth Hub to establish what support they could access to escalate their growth plans.

Alan Ferreira said “We had noticed a drop in the success rate of our tender applications, and suspected our social value responses needed reviewing and reviving. Essentially we were seeking advice on where we were going wrong and what we could do to improve our tender outcomes”.

After an initial meeting with a Business Advisor the company enrolled onto the Knowsley Business Growth Programme. An action plan was drawn up with a recommendation for tender support through 1-2-1 sessions with a procurement consultant. During the consultancy support stage the company was advised on how to respond and articulate more clearly their social value outcomes, and enhance their cost profile in their overall tender submission.

Alan explains “As a social enterprise business, everything we do is for a social benefit, but explaining that in a tender was difficult based on the criteria. The support helped me find a range of examples to strengthen my response in future.”
