Citrus have been piloting a new worthwhile piece of Social Value, to benefit local start-up companies with first-hand, open and honest tools and advice to help upcoming entrepreneurs reach their goals.

The Citrus 6-Step Start Up Workshops are led by Directors’ Jack Stockton & Michael Barnes, with brand & social media presence tips from Bid & Brand Manager Lizz Lee.

JFM lifestyle and workwear were the first to take part. Kev Maloney, Director, said: “That was absolutely brilliant, we left with a clarity and focus we’d not had in a good few months… it was all explained with such simplicity and brutal honesty.”

JFM & Citrus met via Knowsley Chamber introduction and Citrus opted for their bespoke service when choosing new uniforms for all staff earlier this year and a business relationship was formed and has now blossomed.

Key topics covered within each workshop are:
• Goal Setting
• Financial
• Selling
• Spending
• Processes
• Brand

Workshops have an informal style, giving JFM a setting whereby discussion and conversation can flow freely and all question/concerns no matter how big or small are treated with respect.

The aim of the workshops, Jack explains: “We wanted to give something worthwhile back to the locality, not just tick a box for social value-but to actually help people where we can.”

Michael added: “This is something we are passionate about, helping companies grow and seeing people do well.”

The workshops will be rolled out and offered to current clients of Citrus, who may have start-up businesses in their area that could benefit. Set criteria will ensure this is offered to those who will benefit most, including maximum turnover/number of staff and sector of work.

Social Value is at the heart of Citrus who exceed commitments for an SME contractor, employing 15 full time apprentices, supporting local food bank The Big Help on a regular basis and taking up the Kickstarter scheme, providing 6 positions.
