Hospitals nationally have faced immense pressure during the Covid pandemic, and will continue to face more in the future. Liverpool University Hospitals staff have worked tirelessly through a time that they have never quite experienced before, caring for a high number of patients in exceptional circumstances.

Throughout all of this, we, Liverpool University Hospitals Charity have been working hard to raise funds to support and improve the care, treatment and wellbeing of our both our patients and staff.

During a time where patients aren’t allowed visits from loved ones, and staff are experiencing pressures like never before, our Merseyside community and beyond have pulled together to help our charity to generate a staggering £1m in just 12 months. We have been completely blown away by the community’s response, and are humbled by the support that we have received.

From individuals that have taken it upon themselves to shave their heads, run virtual marathons, or just make a contribution to the appeal, to local and regional businesses that have made substantial donations to help make a positive difference in some way.

Over the past 12 months, our mental health support team have received an overwhelming number of referrals, much more than our capacity would allow. With work and home life pressures becoming overwhelming for many people, we have identified the immediate need to support to improve the physiological support service for our staff. The wellbeing of our staff is paramount and thanks to you, our supporters we can make sure that provision is adequate to meet the needs of every individual that requires support. So, our fundraising efforts will continue to go toward our efforts to support and improve staff and patient wellbeing.

Long-covid has, and is impacting our staff and patients in many ways, and we will continue to fundraise money that will go some way towards supporting the impact that covid is having on both the physical and mental health of our staff.

As we see light at the end of the tunnel, with life as a country beginning to return to some kind of normality, Liverpool University Hospitals will continue to work tirelessly to care for our patients.

Our Liverpool Hospital’s Charity will continue to do all that we can to contribute towards the enhancement of services to help deliver exceptional care in our area.

We look forward to meeting lots of people and organisations from within Knowsley.
