Using our member directory:  The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003

Members have consented to being in the directory, but that does not give you permission to use their contact details for email marketing purposes. If you would like The Chamber to make an e-introduction, on your behalf, to any of our members, please email: lorna.marshall@knowsleychamber.org.uk

What does the law say?  The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 covers the sending of email marketing.  The legislation says that organisations can only send marketing emails to individuals if they have consented to receive them, except where there is a clearly defined customer relationship.  You therefore cannot send out electronic marketing emails or campaigns to anyone listed in the directory unless you have obtained express permission to do so.

We will report any breach of the law to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
