Discretionary Business Support Grant Further ‘window’ open from Monday 6th July 2020 until Friday 10 July 2020
Businesses who have already benefited from a Discretionary Business Grant, Small Business Grant or Retail Hospitality Leisure Grant are not eligible for the scheme.
In May 2020, Knowsley Council received £739,000 from the Government to fund a Discretionary Business Grants Scheme. The Council designed the application process to reflect Government guidance, eligibility criteria, and local priority areas.
As anticipated, in some priority areas the amount of funding received has not met the demand from applicants. The Council received over 200 applications from local companies during the first ‘window’. Following an appraisal process, grants have been awarded as follows:-
– Large anchor businesses (£60,000 has been fully allocated with 3 businesses receiving grants);
– small businesses (£250,000 with 30 businesses so far receiving grants);
– market trader/shared space companies (£275,000 with 68 businesses so far receiving grants);
– voluntary/charities (£150,000 allocated and 2 charities so far receiving a grant).
No applications were received from bed & breakfast accommodation (total allocation £4,000).
Unspent grant funds of £201,915 will now be pooled.
The Council will open a second ‘window’ for applications from Monday 6 July 2020 to Friday 10 July 2020. Voluntary and charity sector organisations are encouraged to apply for grant funding.
Businesses that were assessed as eligible during the first ‘window’, and are in the priority areas of small businesses, market traders/shared space accommodation, can now apply for this pooled funding. These businesses do not need to resubmit evidence, but they MUST complete a new online application form to receive a new Unique Reference Number (URN). Using the URN, grant applications will be processed strictly in the order in which they arrive.
