DTM Legal and Avision Young host career evening for North West social enterprise, PLACED

DTM Legal and Avison Young joined forces to run a careers evening for Liverpool and Merseyside’s 15-18 year PLACED students.

The event focused on careers within the property development cycle using the Pall Mall commercial scheme as a prime example. The session helped the students with skills such as communication, flexibility, adaptability and problem solving.

Jo Harrop, director at PLACED commented: “We need to diversify who works in the built environment sector to ensure those planning, designing and developing towns and cities truly represent those living there.

To do this, it is imperative that we work with young people from all backgrounds to raise awareness of the broad range of careers that are available in the sector, provide key information about career and study paths, encouraging them to make the most of their skills and talents.

As well as learning about careers opportunities and feeling more prepared for the next step of their journey; students on the Academy develop transferable skills, increase in confidence and self-esteem whilst meeting peers with similar interests.”

We are incredibly grateful to all our partners and sponsors on the programme, including DTM, whose integral support makes The Academy possible.”

The event took place in DTM Legal’s new offices in No 4 St Paul’s Square, Liverpool.

Anna Duffy, head of property at DTM Legal added: “We were delighted to see so many students interested in careers in the built environment.

In Liverpool there are many exciting upcoming projects and tremendous opportunities. Projects such as, the Pall Mall development in the commercial district is a great example. We want the next generation to take part in the vast range of property focused career opportunities available to them here in Liverpool to retain our Liverpool talent.”
