FOCUS: The importance of branding

This month in FOCUS, we speak to two Chamber members that can help you with your branding and profile. First up is Julie at Pinch of Salts who talks to us about the power of the brand. We also catch-up with Kevin from JFM who can proved you with stunning, fully branded-up, workwear to ensure your brand is visible at the right time…

Pinch of Salts – ‘bang for buck’ marketing

Julie Paul, from Pinch of Salts has worked with many businesses from start-ups, to established brands, to develop their branding, marketing, and PR. With years of agency and client work under her belt, Julie decided to freelance, and from there, it grew into an agency.

Pinch of Salts, is a talented team of individuals who are creatively minded yet commercially aware, who understand the power of brands and create a bespoke approach to all their clients, with an open and honest relationship.

Julie says; I think people buy brands and people underestimate the value of the brand. Building your brand is one of the most important things to invest your time into.

‘For us, it’s about value marketing and not trying to tick the boxes of what you think you should do, but doing what is right for your brand.’

When starting out, Julie’s advice is to use as many people around you, as possible to help. Take advice, and work hard.

Julie says; ‘It’s important to help people, and if they see you have value, they’ll come back and use you, PR and marketing isn’t about how many magazine articles you’re in, or how many Instagram followers you’ve got. If you’ve got a good offering people will write about it.’

Pinch of Salts, can offer customers honest business advice, and ‘bang for buck’ marketing.

JFM Workwear – from ‘fitted on-site’ safety shoes to branded shirts and everything in between

JFM Workwear is a family run business having been established in spring 2019 by father and son Josh Maloney & Kevin Maloney, with the companies’ initials being their names and family name (there is a slight twist here), with the J for Josh being at the front of the company name as it was his idea to start the company when he left college that same year.

The JFM vision was to provide a workwear offering based around value, safety, and customer service, with a difference. Josh and Kevin split the roles between production, ran by Josh and Kevin providing the administration support, together they run the company.

JFM provide a comprehensive range of workwear, uniforms, safety-wear across many sectors and have gained the support of not only many of the UKs leading brands, but also leading and reputable brands in Denmark, Sweden, and Italy to enable their customer base to have a wide choice of workwear, uniforms, and safety-wear options. These customer options extend to the choice of garment finish which including Embroidery, Direct to Garment (DTG), high quality heat transfer or vinyl, all of which is done in house, with the range and finishing aspect providing the value aspect mentioned above.

The safety strand comes from JFM being an accredited member of the British Safety Industry Federation (BSiF) which means JFM receive an annual audit from the BSiF on process and product testing to ensure conformity to CE standards, allowing customers to have the comfort and confidence in the safety products that JFM offer.

Within that BSiF membership, JFM are also working towards their Registered Safety Supplier Scheme (RSSS) accreditation, which is a OFQUAL recognised module, further enhancing the advice and support from JFM to their customers. As its stands today, JFM are the only locally owned company within Knowsley & Liverpool to be members of the BSiF, a badge of honour to sit alongside being members of Knowsley Chambers of Commerce.

Added value customer service allows JFM to provide many companies requiring safety footwear to have their staff measured for the correct fitting and size on site, as well as identifying any medical needs for footwear such as diabetes. This part of the JFM customer service was evidenced recently with fellow Chamber members, Henry Diaper & Co Ltd, who had JFM, and one of the UK’s leading footwear suppliers, Himalayan Footwear, on site to hand out their footwear to individual employees, ensuring all staff had the correct sized footwear.

JFMs customer service also helps their customers understand each approval & delivery process, saving time and effort and taking the strain away from what should be a simple process.

Having come through the pandemic as a fledgling company, JFM are soon to launch their new website. A full ecommerce site, with plenty of value, which will have social media and other marketing support. JFM are now entering an exciting phase in their young life, which will hopefully see them expand over the coming months and years ahead. JFM are very keen to remain local too and that any expansion will allow them to develop from within Knowsley.

By keeping a focus on their core offering, of value, safety, service, JFM have been successful in becoming uniform supplier to a growing number of Knowsley Chamber members and are looking to increase their customer base who share the value, safety, and service vision.  JFM will soon be gearing up to increase their production capacity, with investment in new machinery that will help make their offer even quicker.

JFMs website goes live in the very near future and can be found at www.jfmworkwear.co.uk

There is a special Knowsley Chamber Members discount of 15% off their hi-visibility and workwear range (excluding footwear and safety-wear) until 1st August 2022.
