JC Construction remains open for business helping Local Authorities and The Autism Society. They are also keen to offer their support to Knowsley Chamber member businesses that may need urgent help. 1st Choice Concrete & Skip Hire Ltd – A local waste company with a large fleet of HGV skip lorries and waggons can offer a disaster recovery and social resilience plan for local businesses. Sharp Engineering – has a reduced crew at the moment but they are still happy to help any Member company requiring any fabrication regarding securing a building or even maintenance and machining work for companies that are stuck for a breakdown but need to stay open. Adapt (UK) Training can offer the use of a man and van for any operation impacted by Coronavirus but still needs to operate urgent deliveries of food to vulnerable residents etc. Or other local community projects that could make use of this offer.

Solidtek wish to offer a Covid-19 busting hard surface cleaning solution

A 1% solution of chlorine is effective as a hard surface sanitiser and will help inactive coronavirus after 1 minute of contact time. Solidtek have produced a calculator so that anyone who has some bleach or chlorine granules/tablets can make a 1 litre solution. Transport/Delivery help from Sovereign Transport Services – Sovereign Transport Services currently have a full fleet of drivers and trucks out delivering across the UK. However they recognise the difficulties some local businesses are currently in and might be able to help our local businesses.

SFM Couriers – Much of the country may be on lockdown, but we understand that many Knowsley Chamber members are vital to the ongoing effort of keeping people safe, fed and well. Transport is playing a key role across the nation and our dedicated staff are working hard to ensure we play our part. We are still currently providing our full range of services across the North West and UK including:

  • Flatbed deliveries to critical sites
  • Tail lift deliveries of necessary machinery or equipment
  • Temperature-controlled deliveries of pharmaceuticals or food products
  • Bulk deliveries to key manufacturers and suppliers

For less urgent situations, we do have vehicles returning from different parts of the country daily and may be able to make collections coming back to Knowsley for a greatly reduced rate. HELP OUR LOCAL FOOD BANK – THE BIG HEP PROJECT

How you can help as an INDIVIDUAL:

The Coronavirus crisis has prompted many generous offers of support from our big-hearted Knowsley residents, including offers of food and cash, so we’ve teamed up with The Big Help Project’s Knowsley Foodbank to make sure your help gets to where it’s needed most.

The Big Help Project – Knowsley Foodbank is working in partnership with Knowsley Council and Knowsley Chamber to coordinate the delivery of food parcels to hundreds of local families suffering hardship as a result of the Coronavirus epidemic.

So if individuals would like to donate items of food or household supplies – or would like to make a cash donation so that they can buy supplies, here’s how you can do it:

Urgent call for furniture/carpet to hep our homeless households

Knowsley Council has been working to source temporary accommodation for our homeless households, and new accommodation has now been secured. Knowsley’s Housing team now has an urgent requirement to source the following:
• Carpets (including fitting)
• Blinds (including fitting)
• Furniture – including beds, wardrobe, drawers, sofa/chairs, dining room table/chairs
• TVs

Healthy Knowsley Service working with the NHS have asked if any of our local businesses or education establishments can donate any goggles, disposable aprons etc to us at this very difficult time. They are keen to gather as much PPE as possible to use within NHS operations across the area. If anyone can help please contact: Laura Moore – Laura.moore@nwbh.nhs.uk


 

Can you offer any help? This could be going shopping, posting mail, collecting prescriptions, keeping in touch with someone by phone. For those needing care and support, KDC will need people to step in. KDC is working with Knowsley’s PA workforce to identify people who can provide cover. Contact: Joyce.greaves@kdc.org.uk


 

Merseyside Dairies may soon require volunteer milkmen (able to drive a milk float, lift crates and deliver milk).  If their team gets any smaller then milk deliveries to specific Knowsley areas could cease. If this is something you could offer your time to please get in touch with them. This is a vital service particularly to those in our community that are unable to get out to the shops. Huyton/Prescot Rogues & Rascals barber shops are happy to be used as drop off points for any spare toilet rolls, tinned food, pasta and other non perishables which they will pass on to the local elderly community who are self isolating or have found the shops near-by empty. The team will personally drop off the items so if you have anything to donate please drop them in at the shops.


The Knowsley Pensioners Advocacy & Information Service (KPAIS) who provide FREE advocacy and support older people in Knowsley are in desperate need of hand sanitiser and masks. They need supplies ASAP so that their supporters can continue work in the community.

KPAIS are following official UK government guidance for home care workers. They are still taking referrals for their essential shopping services, on 0151 449 3706 or shop@kpais.co.uk  although face-to-face assessment visits are currently on hold – this will be carried out by phone.

Marie Curie Nurses and frontline staff are giving vital support to dying people and their families, in their homes and our hospices across the UK.  At this time of national emergency, these crucial services are needed more than ever as the NHS is put under ever greater strain. Right now, they are working closely with the NHS on plans to support hospitals and NHS staff.  They are appealing to the generosity of the public to help deliver their care, which is needed now more than ever.  “We can’t just turn off our taps until the situation improves.  We’ve committed to our NHS partners that we will be there to deliver care, and we’ve got to continue to be there.”
