Local businesses, partners and community leaders have come together at events to shape how they will work together to build stronger local communities and celebrate how they have supported each other in recent years.
Both events are hosted by Knowsley Council, One Knowsley and the Chamber of Commerce. The first at Prescot Cables Football Club will launch a new partnership to oversee and guide Knowsley’s Stronger Communities strategy.
The following day delegates, including representatives from Knowsley’s community and voluntary sector, will meet at the Kirkby Centre to showcase and develop some of the sector’s many strong relationships with businesses across the borough – with a plan to have another event for more groups and businesses in the summer.
This initiative builds on the success of the borough’s ‘Knowsley Better Together’ approach which has played a major role in enabling Knowsley to respond to the challenges, and support recovery from the Covid pandemic.
Knowsley’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member responsible for Stronger Communities, Cllr Louise Harbour said: “We talk about ‘Knowsley Better Together’ and it really is powerful better when we are supporting and encouraging one another to bring about positive changes in the places where we live, work and play.
“When it comes to partnerships between community and voluntary sector groups and businesses, Knowsley has a strong track record of success. Community, voluntary groups and businesses have reached out to each other and, in doing this, have significantly increased the impact of what we can achieve.
“These events are vital in helping us shape the future of these partnerships as well, as recognising the great work that has brought so many benefits to our communities.”
