The Government has allocated £19.5m to Kirkby (under the Long-Term Plan for Towns Fund) to be spent on locally-determined priorities over the next 10 years.
As part of the Government’s requirements, a new Town Board was established. The Town Board is chaired by Max Steinberg CBE DL and includes a number of local and regional representatives, including businesses and residents. The Board’s first role is to lead on the development of the Long-Term Plan for Kirkby.
Guidance from the Government suggests that the investment should be spent on three broad themes:-
- Safety and Security;
- High Streets, Heritage, and Regeneration; and,
- Transport and Connectivity.
The Kirkby Town Board wants to start a dialogue with residents, businesses, and visitors to Kirkby around their views and aspirations to help to shape the Long-Term Plan for the town for the next 10 years. This is the beginning of the conversation and engagement with residents.
Members of the Town Board and Council staff will be available at the following drop-in events taking place over the coming weeks:-

The Town Board is also keen to speak with community groups across Kirkby. If you are part of a community, voluntary, faith or social group and would like to share your views, please email KirkbyTownBoard@knowsley.gov.uk to request a meeting.
