LJLA welcomes the Government’s relaxing of quarantine rules

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is looking forward to welcoming back more passengers over the coming weeks following yesterday’s announcement by the Government that 14-day quarantine rules for passengers returning to or visiting England will be relaxed from 10th July and that non-essential travel restrictions from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will cease from today.

With a number of flights from Liverpool already having restarted and nearly 40 destinations set to be available by the end of July, passengers from across the North West and North Wales can now book a summer holiday abroad with confidence and once again look forward to being able to fly to a host of European holiday destinations from Liverpool this Summer. The vast majority of countries served from Liverpool are included on the Government’s safe travel list, however restrictions are due to remain for passengers arriving from Portugal, Romania and Bulgaria.

The Aviation industry and Government have worked hard to put in place a package of health measures to manage the risks of COVID-19 which will help ensure that passengers can travel safely and continue to take advantage of Liverpool’s Faster, Easier Friendlier experience.

John Irving, CEO of Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “We naturally welcome this news and that that the UK Government has now decided to change to a risk based approach rather than a blanket restriction. The lifting of the restrictions means that passengers from across the North West and North Wales can now take advantage of the convenience of flying from Liverpool knowing that will they not have to self-isolate for 14 days on their return from the majority of destinations now served from here. This news will aid the Airport’s recovery and that of the travel industry as a whole.”

More flights return from Liverpool John Lennon Airport

The next wave of Ryanair departures have now recommenced and all flights got away either early or on time.

July will see flights to an additional 29 European destinations operate from Liverpool for the first time since the lockdown started as airlines continue to restart operations and enable travellers to get away once again, with the number of weekly departures increasing to over 120 later this month.

Ryanair are adding 25 more destinations to their Liverpool July schedule, with easyJet recommencing flights to 4 more destinations and Wizz Air 3 more. Many more services are due to restart in August too.
