The Local Supply Chain and the Knowsley £ – being contract ready

Knowsley Council spends approximately £90 million per annum in securing goods and services, and works from third parties.  Whilst some of these contracts will be for major highway and lighting repairs, a large number of contracts are open to SMEs  The Council evaluates and records the savings achieved through contracts, and records other factors such as the number of businesses registered on the CHEST (the Council’s e-tendering portal), data on SME spending, number of local businesses bidding for and winning contracts, the impact of keeping the pound local, and how much market engagement there has been in advance of contracts being advertised in the market place.

On Wednesday, June 12, representatives from Knowsley Council and the Templeman Consultancy joined our specialist team of advisors from the Knowsley Growth Hub in a ‘one front door’ approach to provide advice, support and guidance to Knowsley based businesses and organisations. The morning session covered:

• How Knowsley Council procures using ‘The CHEST’
• How to check your ‘The CHEST’ Profile
• Advice and guidance on being ‘Tender Ready’ (tips and advice on the scoring and recording of social value, the Knowsley£ and local supply chains);
• Registering your business with the Knowsley Growth Hub– current profile review and updating preferences so that attendees receive free tender alerts and practical information for your business

A big thank you to Liam Power and Kelly Black from Knowsley Council procurement team and Maddy Templeman, The Templeman Consultancy, plus our Knowsley Business Advisers and Growth Hub Team for delivering a very interactive morning.
