New optical and hearcare services at Specsavers in Halewood

Specsavers in Halewood opened a year ago following £300,000 of investment and the new store has been offering leading optical and hearcare services to local people ever since.

Cllr Tina Harris, Chairperson of the Town Council and Mayor of Halewood officially opened the store in February 2018. Based in Halewood Shopping Centre, it joined other major retailers such as Tesco, Aldi, Barnardo’s and Ladbrooks.

The new store is a welcome addition to the community in Halewood as well as nearby Hale, Hunts Cross and Speke and its well located for families and commuters to easily access.

Its features include three test rooms as well as a contact lens and audiology department. In addition, six new staff members have been recruited from the local community.

Local people are now benefiting from technology such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), usually limited to hospital eye departments. The 3D technology produces a very detailed picture of the eye, allowing optometrists to identify signs of disease years earlier than traditional methods such as age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.

The store and also provides eye examinations, contact lens fitting, and a range of affordable and designer glasses as well as treatments for a selection minor eye conditions.

The store also offers corporate eye testing – this means qualified optical staff go out to sites and test employees for safety glasses.

As well as enhanced eye care services, the store offers a market-leading hearcare service – this includes hearing tests, solutions for hearing loss, a wide range of hearing aids and hearing aid repairs.
