The Forshaw Group awarded Gold by the Armed Forces Covenant

The Forshaw Group is delighted to announce it has been awarded Gold Armed Forces Covenant Award status.

The Forshaw Group is one of 23 North West businesses, and one of 156 organisations nationally, to be awarded this year in the ninth awards scheme, showing the growth of supportive employers across the UK.

Part of the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), this nationally recognised scheme encourages employers to support defence services and inspire others to do the same. It operates a three-tier approach of Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, recognising different levels of commitment provided by employers.

At the Bronze level, employers are recognised for stating their intent to support Defence, while the Silver level recognises how it actively demonstrates its support at a local and regional level. At the highest national level, the Gold award recognises businesses which not only employ and support those who serve, veterans and their families, but has become an advocate to others across the UK.

This scheme allows the Ministry of Defence to publicly thank and honour those organisations for their support towards the Armed Forces community.

Speaking of these awards, The Minister for Defence People, Leo Docherty, said: “Regardless of size, location or sector, employing members of the Armed Forces community is good for businesses. These awards recognise the outstanding support for our Armed Forces from employers across the UK and I would like to thank and congratulate each and every one.”

This award recognises The Forshaw Group’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces Covenant and community by providing new career opportunities and have supportive HR policies in place for serving and former members of the Armed Forces community. The company also advocates the benefits of supporting reservists, veterans, Cadet Force adult volunteers and spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces, by encouraging others to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in the Employer Recognition Scheme.

Speaking of the Gold accreditation, managing director of The Forshaw Group, Liam Hanlon, said: “It is an honour and privilege to be presented with the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award, and we are incredibly proud to support our Armed Forces community.

“As a former Royal Marines Reservist and an active member of the Royal Marines Association and the Special Boat Service Association, this has ensured that The Forshaw Group is committed to supporting veterans.

“Through the attainment of the Gold Award status, this will endorse the future plans we have for the Armed Forces community, and we will continue to provide the very best apprenticeships, training, and roles for our ex-service men and women.”

Janice Cox, Regional Employer Engagement Director (Merseyside, Cheshire & Isle of Man) for The Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association for the North West of England & the Isle of Man, commented: “Huge congratulations to The Forshaw Group on being awarded Gold. I am proud to be associated with you!”
