Workplaces coin it in for Woodlands Hospice

Merseyside businesses have raised thousands in loose change for Woodlands Hospice during the charity’s Bring a Pound to Work Day fundraiser in February.

More than 5,000 people from businesses, community groups and schools took part in the Woodlands Hospice first-ever Bring a Pound to Work Day, so far raising more than £5,000 in £1 coins.

The charity team are delighted with the response to 28 February event looking forward to the final tally once the last of the collection tins are in.

“This is a tremendous amount thanks to the amazing support of our local community and we couldn’t be more grateful,” said Community Fundraising Manager Paula Parle. “A big thank you to the thousands of people who popped £1 into their workplace collection tins. Once all these in, we expect the final amount to be nearer £6,000, which is fantastic for our first event of this kind.

“Our need to raise £4,000 each day to continue the free-of-charge care we give our patients and their families, combined with an unprecedented loss of fundraising income this year, makes the brilliant success of our Bring a Pound to Work Day particularly timely.”
