BOXPARK Liverpool is set to launch the World Cup in style with an opening night fan festival featuring live entertainment, interactive competitions, giveaways and the tournament’s opening match, as football fans gather for the start of the world’s biggest sporting event.
On Thursday 11th June, the Mexico v South Africa game marks the official launch of BOXPARK Liverpool’s ‘Home of the Fan’ programme of events, which will see the venue become a hub for supporters throughout the World Cup, screening every England fixture alongside key matches from across the tournament.
The opening night celebrations will begin from 6.30pm, with a live Mariachi band welcoming fans to the venue and bringing a taste of Mexico to Liverpool ahead of the tournament’s opening fixture.
Supporters can then get involved in a packed schedule of fan-focused entertainment, including a World Cup quiz, interactive Spot the Ball competition, boat race challenge and eating competition, before the opening ceremony is shown live on BOXPARK Liverpool’s giant screen ahead of kick-off at 8pm.
The event will also see the launch of BOXPARK Liverpool’s World Cup of Keepy Uppys competition, which will run throughout the tournament and give football fans the chance to compete for prizes, bragging rights and a place in the venue’s own World Cup leaderboard.
Designed to capture the atmosphere, excitement and sense of occasion that only the World Cup can bring, the opening party is expected to attract supporters from across Liverpool and beyond, setting the tone for what promises to be a memorable tournament.
Known for its Eat, Drink, Play ethos, BOXPARK Liverpool combines major sporting moments with street food, entertainment and social experiences, creating the ultimate destination for fans looking to watch the action alongside fellow supporters.
Throughout the tournament, football fans will be able to enjoy food from BOXPARK Liverpool’s street food traders including Shake?, Simply Salt N Pepper, Yoki Social Table, Rogue Pizza Co., The Lids, Falafel Xpress and Muther Clucker, alongside The Athenian which is soon to join the venue, plus fully stocked bars serving beers, cocktails and sharing packages.
While England matches are expected to draw huge crowds, BOXPARK Liverpool is also encouraging supporters of nations from across the globe to make the venue their home throughout the competition, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflects both the diversity of the World Cup and the city itself.
Joel Lee, General Manager at BOXPARK Liverpool, said: “The World Cup only comes around once every four years, so we wanted to create an opening night that feels like a real celebration rather than just another match screening.
“From the moment fans arrive, they’ll be immersed in the tournament atmosphere. We’ve got live entertainment, competitions, prizes, great food and drink, and of course the opening match on the big screen.
“BOXPARK Liverpool’s ‘Home of the Fan’ is about bringing people together through football. Whether you’re supporting England, Mexico, South Africa or any of the other nations competing, we want this to be the place where fans come together to share those moments and enjoy the tournament together.
“The opening party is just the beginning of what we have planned across the World Cup and we’re so excited to welcome everyone for so many celebrations.”
Tickets for the World Cup opening party and all tournament fixtures are available now via BOXPARK Liverpool’s website. England tickets start from just £10pp with food and drinks options available.
Rest of the World group stage tickets are free entry. Fans are encouraged to book early to secure their place.
