Following the success of the first Construction Cares programme in July, a second programme has been delivered just three months later, highlighting the continued demand for initiatives that create opportunities for young people across Knowsley.
Delivered in partnership with Knowsley Council, Fusion21, St Helens College & Knowsley Community College, Knowsley Children’s Services and GMI Construction Group PLC, the programme is committed to supporting young people from local communities by helping them develop skills, gain confidence and explore future career opportunities within the construction sector.
The success of the inaugural programme demonstrated the positive impact the initiative can have and the appetite for further delivery. Building on that momentum, participants from the latest programme will now progress onto CSCS card training, providing them with an important industry-recognised qualification and opening the door to employment opportunities through established industry partnerships.
Construction Cares is focused on investing in people, developing skills and creating meaningful pathways into the construction industry. Through collaborative working and hands-on learning, the programme is helping young people take positive steps towards future employment while addressing skills needs within the sector.
A huge contribution has been made by supply chain partners Carter Complete Building Services, TMJ Joinery and Mottram Decorators Limited, who supported the programme and delivered sessions throughout the course, sharing their expertise and industry knowledge with participants.
The programme also received support from Esposito’s Catering & Events, who provided catering for those taking part.
GMI Construction Group PLC remains passionate about supporting Knowsley and is committed to making a lasting positive impact in the communities where it works. With two successful programmes now delivered in just three months, Construction Cares continues to demonstrate the value of partnership working in creating real opportunities for young people and building a stronger future workforce for the construction industry.
