There’s an innovative and sustainable SOLID chemical water treatment range for the residential heating and plumbing sector available now in the UK which is designed and manufactured in Liverpool by DosaFil Residential Technologies.
It’s a world first and it’s taking off as more and more people see the logic and attraction of a ‘no brainer’ alternative to the decades old standard approach to water treatment in our domestic water treatment sector.
A solid alternative to the standard liquid options offers a sensible approach that has a string of benefits that liquid products simply cannot match. In comparison to traditional liquid alternatives, the range of solid products are small and compact – and much easier to store in installers vans and move around site. They’re lightweight ranging from just 20g-90g and these solid products eliminate the need for the millions of plastic bottles which are currently finding their way to landfill every year.
The solid product range meets all the standards and guidelines that currently exist in the marketplace whilst offering a raft of benefits over liquid solutions. The range consists of solid inhibitor, solid cleaner, solid heavy duty cleaner and solid biocide. This alternative solution relies on being able to provide the active ingredients in a solid paste format that is far lighter, less dangerous to handle and transport, results in zero leakage or spillage, needs zero plastic that ends up in landfill and offers as good or better results once applied to a system. Multiple customers have reported success with the solid chemicals and dosing devices that suggest that the result of the solid chemical approach is in all cases as effective as the traditional liquid chemical approach and in many cases, significantly better.
The solid inhibitor sticks are the first solid inhibitor in the world to gain NSF International CIAS certification – formerly known as BuildCert. The new residential products are already tried and tested on commercial systems for a number of years – it’s just been a case of resizing the products to be the perfect match for smaller residential systems.
DosaFil Residential Technologies partner is the established Roth UK – part of the German owned underfloor heating system manufacturer. Roth has 75 years of heating system solutions and innovation behind it. Roth has seen the huge benefits of using a solid water treatment product as part of its best in class underfloor heating and cooling total system solutions. Successful chemical treatment has been applied to both new build for pro-active system protection and older residential cleaning projects to restore the system as close as possible to the original operational design and efficiency status.
Maintaining water quality within underfloor heating systems is pivotal for preserving efficiency and preventing potential damage. Regular maintenance should include checking for leaks, ensuring the system is properly sealed and treating the water to prevent the build up of limescale and corrosion. Being a low temperature system, underfloor heating is more susceptible to biofouling than traditional high temperature emitters and therefore a suitable biocide should be added to prevent blockages and biologically induced corrosion within the whole heating system. The inclusion of a filter is a prudent investment, as it can capture impurities like rust and debris. The treatment care package removes and protects from bacterial build up which is especially important with low temperature heat sources combined with UFH distribution systems. This critical health care servicing is a key prescription for extending the lifespan of the system and maintaining operational efficiency.
