A family-run cleaning equipment specialist with more than 50 years of industry heritage has marked a major milestone in its growth by expanding into a larger premises on Knowsley Industrial Estate.
Equip2clean has expanded into a significantly larger unit on the estate to support rising demand, increased stock holding, and continued investment across the business, while remaining firmly rooted in the Liverpool City Region.
A business built over three generations
Equip2clean’s origins date back to the 1970s, when Eric Paxton, a Merchant Navy veteran, began building and supplying pressure washers after returning from service. What started as a small, practical operation grew steadily through local trade, built on reputation, honest advice, and dependable after-sales support.
That ethos has since been passed down through three generations of the Paxton family. Over time, the business evolved from a local supplier into the UK’s biggest supplier of professional cleaning and maintenance equipment, trusted by tradespeople, businesses, and homeowners nationwide.
Modern growth with family values
The business was formally launched as Equip2clean in 2006 by Jonathan Paxton, supplying high-performance pressure washers and cleaning equipment directly to customers under the Kiam brand.
As demand increased, the original building was expanded to incorporate an additional warehouse. Continued growth soon saw the business outgrow that space, leading to the move into a significantly larger premises on the estate.
In 2020, the business entered a new phase when Kieran Paxton joined the company, accelerating growth and modernisation. Since then, Equip2clean has expanded from a team of four to a 15-strong in-house workforce, spanning engineering, warehouse operations, customer service, sales, and creative roles.
As part of this next stage of development, the company is bringing its marketing fully in-house and is currently recruiting for a Head of Marketing role to support continued growth.
This period of transformation has been recognised locally, with Equip2clean named Knowsley Small Business of the Year in both 2024 and 2025.
Expanding capacity on Knowsley Industrial Estate
The move into a larger premises provides Equip2clean with increased capacity across warehousing, logistics, stock availability, and dedicated space for its in-house engineers to carry out servicing and maintenance work.
Remaining on Knowsley Industrial Estate was a deliberate decision, allowing the business to scale while maintaining continuity for staff, suppliers, and customers.
Health and safety-led product development
Product development at Equip2clean is guided by real working environments and direct feedback from customers. One of the company’s latest developments is a new range of Kevlar-insulated gutter cleaning poles, engineered to withstand up to 30,000 volts.
Designed for use in environments where overhead power lines and electrical hazards may be present, the poles reflect Equip2clean’s ongoing focus on health and safety and its commitment to applying customer insight to future product development.
Looking ahead
With its expanded Knowsley facility now fully operational, Equip2clean is entering one of its busiest periods of the year with the launch of its annual March Madness sale, a key trading event reflecting both seasonal demand and the company’s continued momentum.
Despite its growth, Equip2clean remains firmly family-run, with the same values that shaped its early years continuing to guide its future direction.
