Huyton came alive on 21st November 2024 as the highly anticipated Christmas Light Switch-On exceeded all expectations, with what felt like the whole village filling the high street to celebrate the start of the festive season.
The event, a true showcase of community spirit, brought families, friends, and neighbours together in a magical evening of festivities.
With the Huyton Village Green Café acting as a green room for the performers, the event was packed with memorable moments.
Presented by DJ Paul Tomo, performances from Urban Queenz, the Frontline Community Choir, and Songbird Studios captivated the crowd, while Santa Claus, Big Softies and Elsa and Anna from Frozen added to the magic of the night.
The highlight of the evening came at 7pm, when In Demand Radio’s DJ Lee Butler took to the stage to lead the countdown and officially switch on the Christmas lights. As the village was bathed in sparkling light, the crowd erupted in cheers, marking the beginning of the festive season in true Huyton style.
With such an incredible turnout, the event’s organisers Oneday and many others from the community who came together to make it happen, were overwhelmed by the love and pride on display.
“This event was all about bringing the Huyton Community together, and it’s safe to say it exceeded everyone’s expectations,” said Chloe Clarke, who is Oneday’s Concept Director. “The atmosphere was electric, the performances were brilliant, and seeing Huyton filled with so much joy and Christmas spirit was truly special.”
As part of the evening’s festivities, the Huyton Village Green Café and Shop reopened with a fresh new look and seasonal offerings. Guests enjoyed delicious festive treats, hot drinks, and browsed locally made products in the beautifully redecorated space, which promises to be a key community hub moving forward.
