A Huyton woman has been celebrating after receiving a special £9,000 Willowbrook Hospice prize, recognising her remarkable 25 years of support for the hospice.

Mrs Gill Butterworth received the prize after taking part in the Willowbrook Hospice prize draw, which has helped raise vital funds for the hospice and the services it provides to local patients and their families.

Gill, who has supported the hospice through the lottery for a quarter of a century, said she was shocked when she learned she had received the £9,000 rollover prize.

“I never expected to win and never dreamed I would receive such a fantastic £9,000,” she said. “I’m absolutely overjoyed.”

The Willowbrook Hospice prize draw plays an important role in helping to fund the charity’s work across the local community. As demand for services continues to grow, support from prize draw members helps the hospice provide specialist care and support for patients and their loved ones during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Today, the cost of delivering Willowbrook Hospice’s services exceeds £6 million each year, making ongoing community support more important than ever.

Gill was presented with her cheque by Jane and Donna, members of the Willowbrook Hospice team, marking a memorable moment and celebrating her many years of dedication to the hospice.

The hospice thanked Gill, along with its thousands of supporters, whose continued generosity helps ensure local people can access compassionate specialist care when they need it most.

Gill’s story highlights the incredible difference the local community makes to Willowbrook Hospice every day. For more information about the hospice’s services, fundraising activities and ways to support its work, please contact the Willowbrook Hospice team or visit willowbrook.org.uk.
