On Saturday, 13th September, Caring Connections will proudly be leading the Lightbody Health Carry That Weight Challenge – a 26-mile walk from Southport to Otterspool in aid of the suicide prevention charity James’ Place.

Now in its fifth year, this incredible event is more than just a walk. It’s a powerful reminder of the emotional burdens many people silently carry every day, while raising vital funds to support men in suicidal crisis.

What is the challenge?

Inspired by the message of carrying emotional weight, some participants choose to wear weighted vests during the walk. But you don’t need to carry weight to take part – most walkers don’t. With plenty of stops along the way, the day is about solidarity, support, and raising awareness.

It’s a fantastic day out, filled with great company, community spirit, and a cause that truly matters.

Why we walk

Every step helps shine a light on male suicide – the single biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK. By walking together, we not only show support but also raise essential funds so that James’ Place can continue offering life-saving help to men in suicidal crisis.

Get involved

We’d love more of our Caring Connections team – and our wider community – to join us!
