The Knowsley Sharing Santa Appeal is delighted to announce its return for 2024, following last year’s record-breaking success and introducing an exciting new addition focused on supporting those most in need.
From Monday, 4 November to Friday, 6 December the appeal will once again invite generous donations of new and nearly new toys, games, books, puzzles, and treats for children and young people in need.
Last year’s appeal surpassed expectations, supporting over 300 families across Knowsley, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of local residents, businesses, and organizations. More than 500 donation boxes were filled and distributed in partnership with local charities and schools, ensuring that children who might otherwise have gone without could enjoy a brighter, more festive holiday season.
One grateful parent shared her experience from last year: “Thanks to the Sharing Santa Appeal, my children woke up to gifts on Christmas morning. It took such a weight off my shoulders and gave us the joy of a worry-free Christmas. I can’t thank everyone enough for making it possible.”
This year, the appeal is expanding to offer additional support to vulnerable individuals and families struggling during the festive period. For the first time, the Knowsley Sharing Santa Appeal will accept nominations for those in need of extra support, including food and essential items, to help them navigate the challenges of the Christmas season.
Support will be provided on a case-by-case basis to ensure assistance is given where it is most needed. However, the number of support packages will be limited, and we are working closely with our partners to minimise duplication of services. By sharing information across our network, we aim to reach as many individuals and families as possible who are in need of help.
Nominations for this additional support will close on Friday, December 6th (subject to change depending on nomination volume). We encourage early submissions to ensure those in need can benefit from this support.
The Knowsley Sharing Santa Appeal continues to emphasize community solidarity and encourages eco-conscious giving through its “Reduce, Re-use, Recycle” initiative. With donation locations and partners positioned across the borough, it’s easy for residents to contribute to this heartwarming cause.
“We are incredibly proud of last year’s achievements, and we’re excited to bring the Knowsley Sharing Santa Appeal back for 2024 with this new support option,” said Gary See, Founder of the Knowsley Sharing Santa Appeal. “The community came together last year in such a powerful way, and we know we can achieve even more this year. We encourage everyone to donate generously and help us make this holiday season even brighter for local children and families.”
The Knowsley Sharing Santa Appeal calls on residents, local businesses, and organizations to participate and help make this Christmas special for families across the borough. Donations can be made at the designated locations until December 6th .
