Earlier this year, Liverpool-based IT and managed services provider MICT LTD supported an international education aid effort by donating computer equipment to Ukraine, helping to replace technology destroyed during recent attacks on education facilities.

The equipment, including PCs, keyboards, mice and networking hardware, was collected from MICT’s Liverpool office last summer by Casus Pax, a Liverpool-based charity delivering humanitarian aid, emergency medical support, disaster preparedness and specialist training to frontline regions in Ukraine.

After months of careful coordination and transport, the donated technology has now reached the National University Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, where it is being used to directly replace equipment destroyed in a recent attack.

Education facilities across Ukraine continue to be deliberately targeted, leaving students and staff without access to essential learning tools. In this context, the arrival of working computers is not just helpful, it is critical. The donated equipment is already supporting teaching and learning and helping staff rebuild digital access in extremely challenging circumstances.

Casus Pax’s work is rooted in direct relationships with Ukrainian communities. Operating from Liverpool, the charity works closely with local partners to ensure aid reaches the people and places where it is genuinely needed. Alongside education projects, their work includes delivering medical aid, supporting emergency response efforts and providing specialist training to help communities prepare for and recover from ongoing conflict.

For MICT, this donation reflects a wider commitment to sustainability, digital inclusion and social impact. The company works with more than 60 charities and third-sector organisations across the Liverpool City Region and sees first-hand how much charities achieve with very limited resources. MICT believes charities consistently do the most with the least and is committed to helping remove digital barriers that can hold organisations back.

Alongside this work, MICT also supports a wide range of SMEs. By partnering with local businesses, the company is able to reinvest value back into the community, offering lower rates, discounts and, where possible, free or donated equipment to charities both locally and further afield.

This approach means that SMEs working with MICT are also playing a part. Simply by choosing a local IT provider with strong social values, they help make it possible for charities to access technology, support and advice that might otherwise be out of reach.

What began as surplus equipment in Liverpool has now become a vital learning resource overseas. It is a powerful reminder that when local businesses and charities work together, small and practical actions can have a real and lasting impact.
