Leading charity Nugent has announced the launch of Nugent Homes, a new initiative developed to provide safe, stable homes for people who need them most.
Inspired by the experiences of some of the people Nugent has supported throughout their care journeys, Nugent Homes has been created as part of the organisation’s long-term commitment to delivering lifelong pathways of support for individuals and communities in need.
The initiative has been shaped by a clear ambition: to ensure that children, young people and adults leaving care or support services are not faced with uncertainty, instability or a lack of suitable housing options at critical moments in their lives.
By building on its longstanding relationships with local authorities across the regions it serves, Nugent aims to ensure that homes developed through Nugent Homes are directly connected to pathways of care where there are identified gaps in available accommodation.
The initiative supports Nugent’s vision to “together, provide a lifelong pathway of support for individuals and communities in need,” while also strengthening the charity’s Accommodation strategic priority: providing safe spaces for those in need. It also reflects the ambitions of Nugent’s Imagine Our World strategic plan, which sets out a collective vision for the future; one that builds on the organisation’s legacy, responds to the challenges of today, and looks ahead with hope and purpose. Rooted in compassion, collaboration and the belief that lasting change happens when people work together, the strategy aims to create sustainable opportunities and brighter futures for the people and communities Nugent supports.
Jo Henney, Chief Executive of Nugent, said:
“Nugent Homes has been developed from a deep understanding of the challenges some people face when leaving care or support services. For too many, the transition into independent living can be uncertain and overwhelming, particularly when there is a shortage of suitable housing available.
“We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live safely, with dignity and stability, and this initiative is about helping to create genuine pathways into long-term homes and brighter futures.
“This is an important step forward in our vision of providing lifelong pathways of support, ensuring that the people we support are not only cared for in moments of crisis, but are supported to thrive long into the future.”
John Simms added:
“Nugent Homes represents an important opportunity for us to create accommodation that is directly connected to the needs of the communities we support.
“Through our partnerships with local authorities and our understanding of where the gaps in provision exist, we can help develop homes that provide safety, stability and a genuine foundation for the future.
“This is about creating more than housing – it is about creating pathways, opportunities and long-term support for people who need it most.”
Nugent Homes forms part of the organisation’s wider strategic commitment to tackling inequality, supporting social mobility and creating opportunities for people across communities.
