Labour have announced the Employment Rights Bill… what are the key takeaways?
Parliament will now start consulting on the provisions of the bill which include:
– Day-one rights to claim unfair dismissal, paternity, parental and bereavement introduced
– 9 month “Statutory Probation Period” enshrined into law
– Flexible working “default where practical”
– Changes to Statutory Sick Pay – removing lower earning limit and scrapping 3 day waiting periods
– Banning “exploitative” zero-hours contracts and power imbalances in contracts
– Introduction of Fair Work Agency
