Genr8 Kajima Regeneration Limited (GKRL), working in partnership with Knowsley Council, has launched a public consultation to gather feedback from residents, businesses, visitors, and community groups on the future transformation of Huyton Village.

As part of this consultation, two drop-in events will take place at the Village Green on Derby Road, Huyton:

  • Monday 12 May, from 12pm to 7pm

  • Saturday 17 May, from 10am to 3pm

In addition, from 29 April, the public can also share their views online by completing a short feedback form at www.stmichaelshuyton.co.uk, or by collecting a paper version from Huyton Library or Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park.

This consultation represents a key milestone in the regeneration of Huyton Village, part of Knowsley Council’s 10-year development plan. The initiative aims to deliver up to 1,700 new and retained jobs, increase footfall, and boost the local economy by £50 million.

The regeneration is a long-term legacy project designed to shape Huyton for future generations—enhancing its appeal as a place to live, work, visit, and invest. As Knowsley Council’s strategic development partner, GKRL is committed to placing the community at the heart of the regeneration process.

The consultation follows the Council’s approval in November 2024 of Phase 1 of the Huyton Village Centre masterplan, which includes the redevelopment of the Council’s seven-acre civic site, St Michael’s Place. Subject to funding, the proposals offer a wide range of improvements:

  • A revitalised town centre

  • Better access to services and amenities

  • A diverse mix of housing options

  • New office space

  • Enhanced leisure and retail, including a hotel

  • Support for a growing night-time economy

  • A newly created village green

Additional plans include a new community hub at Cavendish Walk, bringing together library, meeting, and community spaces. The existing multi-storey car park is also set to be transformed into a modern travel hub, with improved cycle and car parking, electric vehicle charging, enhanced lighting, and security features.

The consultation is open from 29 April to Tuesday 27 May. Throughout this period, the public can explore the latest proposals, ask questions, and provide valuable feedback to help shape the next phases of the masterplan. With both in-person events and online participation, it’s easy for everyone to get involved.

Mike Smith, Director at GKRL, said:
“As we move forward, it’s vital that local voices continue to influence Huyton’s transformation. We’re listening closely to how people use the village today and want to ensure the new plans reflect and respect that. This consultation is a chance to work together to create a town centre that’s both ambitious and grounded in community needs.”
