Knowsley-based SGD Fire Protection is celebrating a significant period of recognition after being shortlisted and nominated across three major award ceremonies during June and July 2026, marking another important milestone in the company’s rapid growth journey.

The passive fire protection specialist has received recognition for its leadership, business growth, commitment to ESG and contribution to the construction and fire safety sectors, with the team sharing the room with some of the most established and respected businesses from across the Liverpool City Region, the North West and the wider UK.

The summer of recognition began on Friday 26 June when SGD Director Georgia Davidson attended the Merseyside Women of the Year Awards after being nominated for Business Leader of the Year. The nomination recognised Georgia’s contribution to the growth and development of SGD Fire Protection, her leadership within the business and her commitment to supporting the company’s people, culture and wider community ambitions.

For a business that was established just four years ago, the recognition marked a significant moment in SGD’s journey and saw Georgia recognised alongside inspirational women from across the Liverpool City Region who are making an impact within their businesses, industries and communities.

The first week of July brought further national industry recognition when the SGD team travelled to Coventry for the Fire & Security Matters Awards.

SGD Fire Protection entered the evening having received an impressive five award nominations, placing the Knowsley business alongside some of the most prominent organisations operating within the UK fire safety and security industries.

The company was delighted to receive a Commended recognition in the ESG Company of the Year category, acknowledging the work being undertaken across the business to ensure that environmental, social and governance principles remain central to its continued growth.

SGD’s approach to responsible business has developed significantly alongside its commercial growth. The company has invested in local employment, apprenticeships, professional development, charitable giving, volunteering and community partnerships, while also creating the SGD Foundation to provide further support to charities, Community Interest Companies and grassroots organisations across Knowsley and the wider Liverpool City Region.

The recognition continued at the North West Regional Construction Awards, held at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool, where SGD Fire Protection was shortlisted for SME of the Year. The shortlist placed SGD among leading organisations from across the North West construction industry and recognised the company’s continued growth, investment in its workforce and contribution to the wider built environment sector.

Although the company did not take home the overall awards on each occasion, the SGD team believes the recognition represents an important measure of how far the business has progressed since it was established in 2022.

Shaun Davidson, Managing Director of SGD Fire Protection, said:

“The past few weeks have given us a real opportunity to reflect on how far SGD has come in just four years. To receive recognition across three major award events, covering leadership, ESG, business growth and our contribution to the construction and fire safety industries, is something every member of our team can be proud of.

Of course, every business attends an awards evening hoping to win, but there is also huge value in simply being recognised at this level. We have been sharing rooms with some of the biggest and most established businesses in the region and our industry, many of which have been operating for decades. For SGD to be recognised alongside organisations of that calibre at this stage of our journey is a significant achievement.

These nominations are a reflection of our entire team. Our growth would not be possible without the people who represent SGD every day, whether they are delivering projects on site, supporting our clients, managing compliance or helping us deliver our wider social value commitments.

We have always wanted to build a business that delivers exceptional standards of passive fire protection while also creating opportunities for people and making a genuine contribution to the communities around us. The recognition we have received this summer gives us even more motivation to continue growing responsibly, investing in our team and raising standards across everything we do.”

Founded in 2022, SGD Fire Protection has developed from a growing Knowsley business into a nationally operating passive fire protection contractor delivering projects across the UK.

The company’s growth has been supported by continued investment in its people, technical standards, accreditations and operational infrastructure, while its headquarters remain firmly rooted in Knowsley.

Alongside its commercial growth, SGD has made social value and community investment a central part of its business strategy. The company has supported local charities and community organisations, invested in partnerships designed to create long-term positive outcomes and continued to develop employment and apprenticeship opportunities.

The recent recognition across three different award programmes demonstrates the breadth of SGD’s progress. From individual leadership recognition at the Merseyside Women of the Year Awards to national fire safety industry recognition and a regional construction industry shortlist, the nominations highlight the growing profile of both the company and its team.

As SGD Fire Protection continues through its fifth year in business, the company is focused on maintaining its momentum, developing its workforce, expanding its project portfolio and continuing to create measurable social value across the communities in which it operates.

For the team, the summer of 2026 has provided another reminder that while trophies are one measure of success, being recognised alongside industry leaders is itself an important milestone for a young business with ambitious plans for the future.
