SGD Fire Protection Ltd (SGD) is delighted to announce that it has achieved second place, along with a Highly Commended recognition, in the Fire Safety Project of the Year category at the first ever IFSM Awards, held at Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. The accolade honours SGD’s work on its Daisy Haye project, recognising the company’s excellence in delivering an innovative and high impact fire safety solution that enhanced protection for residents and the overall building.
The IFSM Awards, hosted by the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), aim to highlight best practices and exemplary performance in the fire safety sector. The Fire Safety Project of the Year award celebrates projects that have delivered significant improvement to fire safety in relation to people and premises, for works launched from 1 January 2023 onward.
Out of a strong shortlist of high quality entries, SGD’s Daisy Haye submission stood out for its technical rigour, client impact, and commitment to occupant safety, earning SGD the second spot in this flagship category.
Shaun Davidson, Director of SGD, commented:
“Even though we didn’t win at the IFSM awards to come second and to receive a highly commended award for our Daisy Haye project was incredible, I honestly believe this will be the first of many awards for SGD.”
Daisy Haye, located on Ball Haye Road in Staffordshire, is a retirement village where fire safety is paramount to safeguarding residents. SGD was commissioned, on behalf of client Your Housing Group, to deliver enhanced passive fire protection solutions aimed at fortifying compartmentation, penetration sealing, and overall structural resilience. Through collaborative planning, rigorous installation, and full adherence to regulatory and best practice standards, SGD’s work at Daisy Haye set a benchmark for excellence in fire safety for residential settings.
Securing second place and Highly Commended at the inaugural IFSM Awards marks a significant milestone for SGD. The recognition not only underscores the company’s technical capability but also its ambition to compete at the highest level within the fire safety sector. The outcome of this award affirms the growing reputation of SGD as a rising force in passive fire protection. With Shaun’s confidence that “this will be the first of many awards for SGD,” the team now sets its sights on further innovation, excellence in delivery, and a growing portfolio of high impact projects. SGD extends sincere thanks to the judges, fellow nominees, clients, and staff whose dedication made this achievement possible.
