Huyton-based passive fire protection specialist SGD Fire Protection has continued its commitment to supporting the local community, with members of the business taking on the Anfield Abseil to raise money for Cash for Kids and its Mission Christmas campaign.

The fundraising challenge saw members of SGD Fire Protection swap their usual working environment for one of Liverpool’s most recognisable landmarks, taking on a 100ft descent down the Main Stand at Anfield Stadium to support a charity helping children and families across the local area.

Taking on the challenge were SGD Managing Director Shaun Davidson alongside Gary, Joe, Sian and Callum, with Brad Morton also joining the group on the day. The group set themselves an initial fundraising target of £1,000 for Cash for Kids, with donations raised through the challenge going towards the charity’s Mission Christmas campaign. For the Huyton-based business, choosing a charity that supports children and families within the local community was particularly important.

Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas campaign helps ensure children who may otherwise go without receive a gift at Christmas, supporting families experiencing poverty and difficult circumstances.

Shaun Davidson, Managing Director of SGD Fire Protection, said:

“SGD was established here in Knowsley and a large number of our team are from the local area, so raising money for a cause that supports children and families close to home was really important to us. We’ve been very fortunate to grow as a business over the last few years and we’ve always wanted to make sure we give something back along the way.

“Cash for Kids does brilliant work across our local communities and when the opportunity came up to do the Anfield Abseil, we knew it was something we wanted to get behind. I’m really proud of everyone who took part and grateful to everyone who donated and supported us. It was definitely a challenge, but knowing the money raised will help local children made it completely worthwhile.”

SGD Fire Protection has continued to place a strong focus on supporting its local community as the business has grown, from creating employment and apprenticeship opportunities in Knowsley to supporting local charities and community initiatives. The Anfield Abseil is the latest fundraising effort from SGD Fire Protection, with the business continuing to look for opportunities to use its growth to make a positive difference within the communities around it.
