Knowsley Development Trust is proud to announce the renaming of its fully refurbished conference facility as the Pauline Burrows Centre, in honour of the late Pauline Burrows DL, founder of the Knowsley Forget-Me-Not Dementia Café.
For more than 20 years, the building has been home to the Knowsley Forget-Me-Not Dementia Café, which provides vital support and social opportunities for individuals and families affected by dementia. The renaming of the Centre recognises Pauline’s remarkable contribution to the community and ensures her legacy of compassion and care is enshrined for generations to come.
The facility has undergone a significant programme of upgrades, including a full refurbishment, a brand-new kitchen, and the installation of a solar array as part of Knowsley Development Trust’s wider decarbonisation strategy. These improvements will ensure that the Centre remains a modern, inclusive, and sustainable space for community groups, businesses, and events across Knowsley.
Dean Dumbell, Group Chief Executive of Knowsley Development Trust, said:
“It is a privilege to dedicate this building to Pauline, whose vision and dedication created a safe and supportive space for families living with dementia. For two decades, the Knowsley Forget-Me-Not Dementia Café has been at the heart of this building, and it is only fitting that the Centre now carries Pauline’s name. This is both a celebration of her legacy and a commitment to ensuring the facility continues to serve the community for the future.”
The unveiling ceremony was attended by family members, local dignitaries, and community leaders, all of whom paid tribute to Pauline’s enduring impact on the borough.
