Businesses across Knowsley and the Liverpool City Region were treated to a powerful and restorative wellbeing session this week as Working Well hosted its latest event, The Art of Rest, delivered by wellbeing practitioner Bev from Emerald Waya and kindly hosted by The Village Hotel.

The event aimed to support employees and employers in prioritising rest, reducing stress, and nurturing wellbeing in the workplace, an increasingly vital area for workforce health and performance.

Participants were guided through a unique combination of education, hands-on learning, and therapeutic practices designed to calm the nervous system, reduce cortisol levels, and promote deep relaxation.

A Holistic Journey Into Rest and Recovery

The session began with an engaging exploration of the power of herbs, flowers, and natural remedies in emotional and physical wellbeing. Attendees learned how herbs such as chamomile, lavender, rose, peppermint, and lemon balm can:

  • Naturally reduce stress and anxiety
  • Lower cortisol levels
  • Soothe the nervous system
  • Improve mood and emotional balance
  • Support deeper, more restorative sleep

Bev demonstrated how simple, accessible herbal practices can be incorporated into daily routines, empowering attendees with knowledge they can confidently use at home.

Participants then had the opportunity to create their own herbal tea blends, selecting from a variety of flowers and leaves while learning about the therapeutic benefits behind each ingredient. This hands-on activity encouraged mindfulness, creativity, and a moment of calm connection.

The educational element was followed by a soothing aromatherapy discussion, offering attendees practical tools to promote relaxation and emotional regulation safely and effectively.

A Deeply Restorative Sound Healing Experience

The session concluded with a restorative sound bath, immersing attendees in calming vibrations designed to lower stress, settle the mind, and promote full-body relaxation. This powerful closing experience provided a rare opportunity for participants to truly reset amid the demands of daily life and work.

Feedback from attendees highlighted a renewed sense of calm, clarity, and wellbeing demonstrating the impact of integrating holistic practices into workplace health programmes.
