Knowsley Council’s PfA Employment Support Officer works with local businesses, schools and organisations to raise aspirations and create supported employment opportunities for people with additional support needs.

Support can range from a one-hour business talk with a Q&A session from you or a member of your team, a visit to your organisation, taster sessions, work experience, and paid employment opportunities.

Business talks and Q&A sessions allow pupils to engage with employees and employers to find out more about different job roles and the skills needed for these roles

Business visits to different organisations and departments enables pupils to meet people in the real world of work and learn about different roles within an organisation.

Taster sessions supported by a job coach or staff member from the school or college allow pupils to experience a certain role to see if it is right for them and can help broaden their horizons.

Supported Internship and work experience placements (with job coach support) allow students to gain valuable experience of the world of work and gain skills and confidence to  prepare for the workplace and future employment.

Job designed positions offer sustainable paid employment opportunities- these roles can range from a few hours a week up to a full-time position. The roles created are based on the business need, and all start off as work placements for a six-week duration to make sure that it is right for the individual and right for the employer. Job coach support is available to help the individual learn the role and to support the organisation.

If you would like to discuss any of the above options to explore how you or your organisation can help raise aspirations for our Knowsley residents and offer meaningful encounters with employees/employers please contact us on 0115 443 3054 or e-mail info.supportedemployment@knowsley.gov.uk
