The Prescot School is proud to announce two key careers events designed to inspire, inform, and prepare students for their future pathways. These flagship events—Working Lives Day and Year 9 Mock Interviews—form part of the school’s ongoing commitment to providing meaningful employer engagement and high-quality careers education.

Working Lives Day – Thursday 12th February 2026

The Prescot School will host its annual Working Lives Day, a whole-school careers event giving pupils valuable exposure to a broad range of post-16 and post-18 opportunities.

The centrepiece of the day is a dynamic careers convention held in the school sports hall, featuring stall holders from colleges, universities, training providers, and employers from across the region and beyond. Students attend structured, careers-focused sessions and are allocated a dedicated hour to explore the convention.

During their visit, pupils will complete a guided scavenger hunt designed to spark conversations and help them gather useful career insights.

Employers participating in Working Lives Day are asked to commit to the full day (8:00am–3:15pm) to ensure consistent access for every year group. Exhibitors are encouraged to bring interactive activities, information packs, and promotional materials to support students in making informed choices about their future.

Year 9 Mock Interviews – Wednesday 22nd April 2026

Later in the year, the school will run its highly valued Year 9 Mock Interviews event, offering students a realistic and supportive introduction to the world of professional interviews.

Each pupil will take part in a formal, one-to-one interview conducted by a real employer. Taking place at a crucial point as students consider their GCSE options, the interviews aim to build confidence, communication skills, and an understanding of employer expectations.

In the lead-up to the event, pupils receive lessons on interview etiquette, response techniques, and question preparation. Employers are invited to support the full day (8:30am–3:00pm) and may use a provided set of suggested questions if desired. Constructive feedback from employers is an essential part of the experience, helping students strengthen their skills and broaden their awareness of the working world.

Hospitality

Lunch and refreshments will be provided for all attending employers at both events.
