34th Annual General Meeting of Knowsley Chamber of Commerce

Lesley Martin-Wright, Chief Executive of Knowsley Chamber, welcomed 80 members to the 34th Annual General Meeting of Knowsley Chamber of Commerce.  Once again, the Chamber was fortunate to be able to hold the AGM at the spectacular Knowsley Hall, and members were given a warm welcome on arrival.

In this year’s Chief Executive’s annual report Lesley highlighted the important role of the private sector, not only in driving the economy but also support for the local community.  Lesley said “Working within the often challenging economic headwinds, and geopolitical challenges, Knowsley Chamber has remained at the heart of the community.  Local businesses play a pivotal role in driving economic growth, and the Chamber’s role is to support collaboration, innovation and investment.

Lesley added “Since 1987, our role has been to be a catalyst for business, and an important component for creating a thriving business ecosystem.  We work hard to support all types of businesses, fostering entrepreneurship, and helping companies to lay down firm foundations for a sustainable and prosperous future.  We aim to empower companies, to help them access the resources they need to excel”.

The focus of the speech was also to highlight that the business community’s role extends beyond geographical or sectoral boundaries, and that business success is often intertwined with the well-being of individuals.  This year the Chamber has focused efforts in supporting companies on their Environment Social and Governance (ESG) journey, helping them to maximise their social impact.

The Chamber has facilitated around 40 events this year, with nearly 900 delegates attending.  Lesley thanked the Chamber’s Board of Directors and staff, the members and Strategic Partners, Visiativ, Morecrofts, Privilege HR and Liverpool Hope University for their support.

Lesley said “As we reflect on the achievements of Knowsley’s businesses, let us look forward with some optimism and determination.  I formally acknowledge the achievements of each business here today – and the positive ripple effect of your endeavours.  Your success has a multiplier effect.  Your willingness to invest, take risks, and explore new horizons contributes to the dynamism and success that defines this borough.  Your success touches the lives of employees, suppliers, customers, our schools, and colleges, creating a positive economic effect that resonates through our community.  Because, beyond the numbers on financial reports, it’s the spirit of collaboration, innovation and aspiration that sets our businesses apart”.
