Collaboration in education: Alfred H Knight partners with Liverpool Life Sciences UTC

As an organisation, Alfred H Knight is committed to helping students achieve their educational and
professional goals. This is why they are proud to announce a partnership with Liverpool Life Sciences UTC, a local college specialising in Science, Engineering, and Healthcare Education.

Life Sciences UTC encourages students aged 14-19 to take a range of sector-focused qualifications
alongside their core curriculum of GCSEs and/or A Levels. Business partners are then utilised to help define skills requirements and provide projects, master classes and training to meet these needs.

Having met at a networking event held by the Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, representatives of Alfred H Knight visited Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and were impressed by the students and the college and saw an opportunity to partner and encourage more Analytical Chemistry-focused projects.

Alfred H Knight is now supporting students by providing them with valuable insights, knowledge and
technical skills in various analytical laboratory techniques, processes, and principles. Through this
collaboration, students will be introduced to the work of Alfred H Knight to encourage students to explore a broader range of careers and apprenticeship opportunities in STEM fields.

Recently, Alfred H Knight hosted a visit to the company headquarters in Prescot for 20 of the students, in which representatives held interactive sessions including a laboratory tour, practical sessions, and career path workshops.

John Dyer, Lead Teacher for Science and Innovation at Liverpool Life Sciences UTC said:
“We had a great day at Alfred H Knight with Liverpool Life Sciences UTC students today. Our
students had an excellent tour of the labs, did a bit of chemistry and found out about degree
apprenticeship opportunities. It was such a good experience for our year 12 chemists.”
